  • Disengages side stand ignition switch

While riding my 06 Kat would shut off at around 80mph (sometimes 70), i'd pull over and it would fire right back up. It turns out the the side stand was a little loose so I had it disengaged. I'm curious to know if anyone else has done the same thing to their bike? I'm thinking about having it re-engaged but if it won't cause any harm then i'll leave it like it is. Any suggestions?

Dont forget to be in neutral when you start your bike.

Why not just fix the stand instead?

I have had that problem for years... i have "fixed" it with new side stand bolts.... new kick stand.... welding and drilling the kick stand/ frame... bending the kick stand forks.... And ALL of those solutions lead you back to the same scenario.... just bypass the kickstand switch and be done with it... just always remember to put your kick stand up.

The other solution is to remove the current kick stand setup and replace it with a ducati stand which will ALWAYS go up. If you take the bike's weight off the kick stand it will go up. which really is a better idea then having hang down like that.

Dang, I laughed alot on that first video. Even watched it a few more times, good find

As for the safety switch, mine is bypassed along with a few others. Haven't had a single issue since. A little common sense goes a long way there though. If my butt is in the seat, the stand is up and bike in neutral
