If it is a day where I can be casual, I will forgo the riding pants and go with jeans or my steel jeans and riding boots.
If its a pseudo "dress up" day I will use my overpants over khakis. Otherwise I pack the dress up clothes and change when I get to work.
I always ride with full jacket, helmet, gloves, boots and some form of pants with jeans at the bare minimum... I would just look way to silly not wearing any pants.
Also, If it is hot out I will typically wear my normal riding gear and just pack a fresh polo or other work shirt so I wont be all sweaty and stanky at work.
