    Required tools:

    Flat head screwdriver
    Small Phillips head screw driver
    Hammer (optional)
    Angled needle nose pliers (optional)

Part 1: Removing the instrument cluster

    Katana 600/GSX600F models

    1. Remove (or loosen) upper fairings.

    3. Disconnect the speedometer cable.
    4. Remove the instrument cluster mounting screws or nuts, and then detach the cluster from the bike.

    Katana 750/GSX750F

    1. Remove upper fairings windscreen
    2. Disconnect electrical connectors from the cluster harness.
    3. Disconnect the speedometer cable.
    4. Remove the instrument cluster mounting screws or nuts, and then detach the cluster from the bike.

Note: Keep gauges in an upright position while they are off the motorcycle when you are not working on them.

Part 2: Separating the instrument cluster

    1. Remove screws from meter plate and slide the gauge out of the meter molding.
    2. Repeat this process for all three gauges.

    Part 3: Opening the gauges

    1. Using a small flat head screwdriver, carefully pry back the underside of the gauge cover ring. I find a quicker way to do this is to bend a small area up, and slide the flat edge of the screwdriver blade down between the gauge housing and the gauge ring a VERY LIGHTLY tap the ring with a small hammer to ensure a straight edge.

    2. Once you have completely straightened the underside lip of the gauge ring, you can now slide the gauge cover off of the housing. You now have the gauge open.

    3. With the gauge open you must now CAREFULLY pry off the needle. This can be done with a screwdriver, but I find it much more efficient to use a pair of angled needle nose pliers, and lightly pull the needle off the armature.

    4. With the needle removed, remove the two Phillips head screws and remove the gauge face.

    5. Installation is the reverse of removal. To re-bend the underside lip of the gauge ring, simply work the ring back to shape by applying pressure with the flat head screwdriver. You may CAREFULLY tap the screwdriver with a small hammer, but this is not necessary.
