Good idea with the string. I use a 1/4" piece of steel that I cut out 3"x3" square. Never had it sink into anything... not even mud.

Great range of answers, from the fancy to the uber cheap. I've kept a tin-can top (not a pull-top) in my jacket pocket for years. Works brilliant on grass, soft pavement, gravel, all sorts of places. I have never attached a string to it because I first got it as an emergency item. That string sounds like a great idea, though!

yeah, it's been stated enough. i used to have a kickstand puck thing i got when i completed the BRC, but i left it at my dads, and then he moved to arizona. so it's currently 2000 miles away lol. thankfully i don't run into grass parking situations on the bike. they taught us to use the string trick as well, that way you can kick the stand up, and then just pull the puck up while on the bike.

I like to a large piece of plywood or particle-board, easy to keep under the seat. Strong/thick plastic bent for me when i parked in a grass field, and that was with a 250. The kat would **** up that piece of plastic for sure lol

keep mine in rear jacket pocket...

I'm taking my kat to my softball game for the first time after work, and will most likely have to park on grass. I'm hoping the crushed soda can works!!!

sidestand is a BAD idea on grass. I put my bike on the centerstand every time its not on solid ground. if I park on grass I put it on the centerstand AND flip out the kickstand. It has saved me once. It almost tipped over because it sunk into the grass on the centerstand. but I had the sidestand out as well and luckyly it tipped over to the sidestand side and the sidestand stopped it falling completely over.

^^^ I'm hoping that I can find some pavement at the park, but since I have an hr drive there could be a long shot...might do centerstand and kickstand just to make sure...
