  • 1000 Katna Build Thread

I purchased an 82 1000 should be here in a day or two.

Already have massed parts for my build. I'm keeping all the stock parts as well as the immaculate 1000 stock motor with 8700 miles on it.

    Parts I have:
93 GSXR750 front trees and forks
93 GSXR front and rear wheels
RFY piggyback shocks built by Chris Livengood/ nitrogen charge Ohlins copies basically set up for GS1100(silver and black)
    93 NISSIN front calipers
Stainless wave rotors front and rear with black inserts.

    Parts on order:
    Front offset 530 17T sprocket
Stealth aluminum 530 48T rear sprocket
    EK 530 o-ring chain
    Steering head bearing
    Swingarm bearings/spacer and seals
Fork seal kit for inverted forks

Took front and rear wheel to my polisher to fully polish aluminum both wheels
    Chroming upper triple tree top
    Semi-gloss powder coat calipers.

I'm looking for a clear shield that will be inner lined with chrome window tint to complete the package.
Still need to polish rear swingarm.

It should be a very unique Katana. I have a vision.

    The subject.

In keeping the stock motor stored, I forgot to mention I purchased the motor mount kit and exhaust spacers to install the Bandit 1200 motor.
They're plentiful and not too expensive.

Finally found the kit, from Pepijn in the Netherlands, he runs Quist-racing.com
He's a super nice guy. I just paid him through paypal, since his site didn't list USA on the shipping tabs.. Guessing that stuff should be here anytime now.

Figured I'd just gets all my chassis and suspension work done first.
I'll probably tear down the forks today or tomorrow.

        It's been a while since I had a project I'm excited about.

          Ordering 1200 Bandit motor today
          Bike will be here tomorrow.
Also ordered Ebay 1200 Bandit swingarm new for 120.00
Ordered Bandit installation kit from Rob at Suzuki-katana

Now to find a way to add about 3-4 inches of stretch. I've seen the holeshot extensions but they are stupid expensive and only bolt on. Scary.
Maybe if I get them later and weld them on.
They look so skinny though defeats beefy swingarm purpose.
Might have to have my own machined and welded.
