Default Spark Advance

I am wondering if this can be done the same way on a '03 Kat 600 with Cal. emissions? The initial timing on the cal model is 4 degrees instead of 10? I also cannot see the pics. Thanks, Dave

Sorry but can anyone explain this in newbie terms? What are we doing and what benefit does this mod bring?

What You are doing in this mod is advancing the timing of the ignition spark. Timing advance helps produce more power by igniting the spark plugs sooner, providing more time for the fuel/air mixture to burn completely, increasing cylinder pressure, thus providing more power.

If too much advancement is done the fuel/air mixture will ignite too soon producing pinging, or pre detenation, this can destroy your motor.

The factory setting is a very safe setting, and from research it seems advancing the timing +5 deg makes the best power. If you don't want to be cutting and self fabricating this mod. You can buy a +5 factory ignition advancer for $60.
