I use rubbing alcohol on a rag. Does a pretty good job if I don't let the dust build up too much.

If I remember the recipe right wd-40 is 80% kerosene and 20% light oil, so plain kerosene will avoid putting oil on the surface but give you the cleaning power of the WD. Good Luck.

tried straight kero, seemed to work well.

followed up with a alcohol wipe on the rotors to remove oil, just in case.
