  • brakes wont release!!!!!

hey my name is Bryson. this is my first post. ive looked up plenty of things on here to help me with my kat, thank you guys for that.... now I have a pretty big problem. my rear brake pistons will not release after I take my foot off the lever and they only get tighter until it damn near locks my tire. can anyone tell me what is going on and how to fix it. its staring to piss me off
    thank you

i had the same problem today. i was thinking of bleeding the brakes a few weeks ago so i flushed the system and opened the caliper a little bit and everything ended up fine for me. what were you doing when you noticed the problem

Sounds like the piston is getting stuck and not returning. You will most likely need to pull it, rebuild it if you can.. or replace it.

Pull it and see if you can push the piston back in for starters..

my brakes did that once. The PO didnt have the right diaphragm in the rear brake fluid resevoir which obviously caused problems. My brake pads "hyper-extended" for lack of a better term and the piston got bound up crooked. I had to take the caliper off, use a c clamp to straighten, or re-align the piston, then retract it. I put in a new diaphragm, refillied the resevoir, bled the lines, got new brake pads and she was good to go.
