  • Best temperature to paint

I'm going to be painting a few parts with a rattle can and the temperature around here is in the mid 40's. Is this too cold to paint in? What is the ideal temperature range for painting?

EDIT: After asking around at a few places, I've found out it is too cold to paint. Looks like I'll be waiting for warmer temps. I hate Ohio weather...

What does the can say? That's the one I'd listen too.

I don't know why I didn't check that in the first place... says 60-90 degrees, so I'll still have to wait. Hopefully only a few weeks.

Few weeks? We hit 68 yesterday. And it's going to be 48 today. I hate the Midwest...

Temperatures here in MD have been more varied than my girlfriend's moods.

            It drives me nuts.

Supposed to be in the 60's monday, but I'll be back at school. So that doesn't help me much, I'll have to plan a trip home when I can count on it being warm enough.

Mid 60's at least.... but you also want the painted item to have at least 24 hours in the mid 60's-70's to set up properly.

Sunlight can help a bit with that...

I poured spot remover on my dog. Now he's gone.

I painted mine in a 60 degree garage i heated with spotlights and a space heater. I kept the parts and paint in the warm house overnight before painting.
