Hi, I was wondering if some one could describe the differences between the different clutches between the years and engine sizes.?
I looked at RonAyers online microfiche and the part numbers for the clutch pressure plate and basket, the numbers show that
GSX600F uses four different clutch styles (if the basket, pressure plate or hub was different).
1. '88-91
2. 92-96
3.'97 (same as the 90-92 GSX-R750)
4.'98-2003
The GSX750F uses three different styles
1.89-96 (same hub and pressure plate as the '88-89 GSX-R750)
2.97 (same pressure plate as above)
3.98-03 (same as 98-03 GSX600 and same hub as the 86-87 GSX-R750)
Next I compared the clutch friction plate part numbers from EBC
There were five types:
1.98+ Katana 750 & 600
2.89-91 GSX600 (& 86-87 GSX-R750)
3.92-97 GSX600 (& 88-89 GSX-R750)
4.92-97 GSX600
5.89-96 GSX750
Any info you could tell me about your clutch I would appreciate. I am trying to figure out what changed from the different years. Like was the diameter different, was the drive gear different, number of springs (4 or 6) etc...?
Or any information about swapping.
Lastly why do I read a lot of people refer to the pre-98 engines? What else changed in 98?
Thanks.
