  • Airbrush work (not a katana)

I decided to dig out my airbrush that I have not used in like 15 years and decided to give it a try again.
I have a few paint jobs coming up and thought i might try something a lil more unique.

i'm currently refurbishing a used used pocketbike I have for sale in my shop and because it had rough body work decided to give it a try...

The bike will be orange when finished but first wanted to lay down some skulls then candy over with Dupli-color metal cast orange.
the base is metal cast silver base and createx airbrush paints for the black.

All i did was cut out a few paper stencils, and lay down a few skulls.
its so easy, any idiot can do this lol

here it is so far I still have to go in and free hand the finer details

    before

    SO FAR

      Thanks

      and maybe....
I plan on building a paint booth this spring and get back into painting bikes. I have 2 Kats and the GS550 street fighter to paint already once i get it up and running.
the one Kat I painted last spring but was cleared with rattle cans. Shortly after the owner dropped his bike and needs a new front signal and re-paint.

A customer just paid a local guy to have her VT750 shadow two toned from black/silver to black/pink to the tune of $1500 with a couple air brushed butterflies on either side...

I was blown away, I could have done that for $100 in materials and still make a couple hundred bucks...
      painters are ripping people off.

I just need the booth to clear, all my base paints are waterbased, like the Createx ABC and Auto-Air colors. I just need to use a 2 part clear to protect it.
ive done it before in my garage but stopped because I needed a better set up and proper booth

The paint job looks great for someone who is dusting 15 years off their gun.

It is also nice to hear someone honest looking out for their fellow riders' pocket books as much as their own. I am getting my bike painted now, but let me know when you get back into the swing of things...I am out in WNY often.

wishing I was closer to ontario, canada. My bike needs some body work and I really dont have time to do it.

When you get back in full swing please let me know, I would be more than glad to take the trip up there for a good, affordable paint job. I'm very serious.

                    Thanks everyone...

i'll be sure to let everyone know when the paint booth is built.

Ive showed my bikes in show 'n shines for years, although the Kat has never won, my shadow did with its overlapping, intertwining flip paint. (rattle cans as well)
Iit will be nice to actually use a proper clear coat again and keep the body shop seperate from my mechanics shop..

It really makes me mad to hear how much people are paying painters out there to do basic work...
this lil pocket bike has about $20 worth of materials in it and I have enough left over to do another bike. I have about 12 hours into it, but I've been working on it after shop hours.

That's some amazing work. When I first saw the picture I thought the bike was full size and those were some huge helmets in the background and of course I didn't read anything above the picture before looking at it.

Nice, professional looking job. Are yu saying that the black Kat in the pic is painted with water based base coat and rattle can clear. It looks super. I am interested because I am in the process of doing mine, black also. Have not bought the paint yet, having tough time to decide on brand. I am an amateur. got a couple of hvlp guns but have only shot single stage paint, never any clear coat. Any thoughts on dupli-color paint shop brand? Seems like less than half price of middle quality paints at auto store. I don't think the clear is great for the tank from what I gather from some other posts. Have to be careful when refueling. Anyway, thumbs up for a great job on the paint and airbrushing.
