  • new back tire but old front tire a little help pleez

i just bough a azaro back tire, but i have the origional metzeler tire that was on my 93 when purchased.

i dont plan riding like this the whole time only for a week or 2. but the front has some bry rot on it

    1 is this ok?
2 will my handleing change drstically(not from the tire change, but one is H rated 1 is Z rated.)
3 will i still get a better performace out of the back tire even with the front tire the way it is.

    thanks guys!

I haven't changed the back tire on my bike yet - the stock is still on my '03, and the tread is starting to get thin, so I need one. Anyway, I can't say much about how it will handle with the new back tire.

I can say that I'd be too scared to ride on a front tire that's dry rotting. When the tread got too thin on my front tire I bought a new Metzeler, and it made a world of difference on just the one tire.

    1: No..change the front tire
    2: I don't know...
3: They say the front tire makes you lean, and the back tire steers you. You may notice a difference, but I can't say for sure.
    Keep the rubber side down!

I've ridden on mixed tires before , but that was before I tried "sport riding" . I've ridden on dry-rotted tires before too , but that was on an old cruiser . Neither are good things , but the dry rot is for sure NOT a good thing ...

              This means three things:
              (A) The VOC compounds in the carcass of the tire have dissipated, either thru time or through running too hot (such as running under pressurized for a long ride).
              (B) Microscopic mold, mildew or other fungi-forms have probably proceeded to break down the compound further.
              (C) This tire is not worthy of trusting your life to it.

Even if you have to sell something else on eBay to afford a decent used tire to replace the front, do so, or don't ride.

              Cheers

No good can come from riding on that tire.
