So as best I can figure, the web host disabled KR this morning for "over using" server resources at around 12:15am EST.

Now, the funny thing is... that we weren't generating that much load... and the backup scripts all run much later.

Apparently the host we are on (site5.com) now offers virtual private hosting, and this may have been a hint that we should upgrade.

I need to figure out what we will do, and am currently in deliberations with the staff.

VPS hosting starts at $50/month which will quickly diminish the tiny KR reserves given the drop in advertising this year.

We are exploring all options, and have made no final decision as of yet.

Not sure what the KR bandwidth requirements are but if you're shopping for a new web host, check out http://www.gem3.com/ I can definitely vouch for the owner. I've only known him for about 27 years. (No, that's not an exaggeration.)

small membership options (of course leave a FREE option ) but having the choice to "upgrade" for a small fee (money generation) a login to include more services/options might be a consideration...

hmm...i like the idea but then what becomes free and what becomes "paid membership only"

you could always grandfather in current members, surf all you want, but marketplace/itrader for an upgraded membership fee or something like that

I was thinking adding/increasing options for what is available already...

For exmaple, I'm constantly fighting the 100 pm limit.... seems to fill up for me in about 1 week, download them all ... then delete them... only to need to then locate a pm later by doing file searches.

Increased pm capacity as one component of a "paid" membership option.

Again, I'm not suggesting per say that any current options be changed or limited... I'm just saying offer more than what you currently get for a price... maybe.

A good example of a site with both pay and free is geocaching.com. I have been both and the pay site has more sophisticated search functions so you get what you pay for. Perhaps something similar would work, pay for what you use.

Katriders bake sale? Seriously cant be find some way of raising money to help the owners/moderators? Id easily pay $20 for a Katrider sticker just to help out.

+1 I've been wanting a katriders.com decal set for awhile now, just been waiting for someone to make them available.

I'd pay a modest fee for KR for me and the man. If nothing else, put up a paypal donate button that we can send you a few pennies as we get them.
