  • To powder coat or not to power coat

I'm toying with the idea of having my wheels on the VFR power coated when it's time for some new rubber.....
toying with this color, I think it will pop on a white bike.

Minus the Ruby lip on this wheel.

    Thoughts?? Possible estimate?? Anybody?

You can usually get them done for about $40-50 per rim if you shop around which included the sandblasting of the old color and masking. I say go for it...just be clear on your color choice and clear on your masking instructions when you drop them off.

Don't mention powder coating to me . My only advce is to find people who do custom coating, not just a regular shop, do not ask me how i know this. I am 6 weeks and $400 into my 2 wheels, and i still do not have them back.
Ok, no more mister nice guy, i've met the guy in the street, and he's a wanker.

Well I have a shop lined up local in Tallahassee. Powdercoating is all they do. I am waiting for a response back from them now.

But this would be getting done not soon, I probably have 8,000-10,000 miles left on my tires but when it's time for new rubber and the wheels are already off.....psssshhhhh for ~$100-$150 it's happening....

Well just head back from the shop in Tallahassee, a bit more then expected. So I'll have to think about it

The cost to clean, abrasive blast, and coat your wheels in a gold/bronze powder will be ~$220 for both wheels. The turn around time will be about one week.
