  • Carb identification help needed!

These are advertised as 1987 GSXR1100 carbs. I'd appreciate an expert's opinion whether they are or not:

They're flatslides, and measure out at 34mm. I think they are BS34SS carbs, but would appreciate clarification. How would these work on my 1982 Katana 1100?

    Thanks all!

Not a GSXR expert but I can do research.
    1. Ron Ayers doesn't even list a 1987 GSXR-1100. Just a GSXR-750. Had to go to a dealer website: http://www.mthollykawasaki.com/fiche...1987&fveh=2195
    2. Based on placement of the idle adjuster, connecting hardware and plates, I'd say the description is correct. Those carbs are from a 1986-1988 GSXR-1100 or compatible engine.

No idea if the spacing is right for your 1982. Worst case, maybe it's close enough that some new plates or elongated attachment holes will let everything line up. if you've got the carbs and you've got the bike there's nothing to stop you from trying and winter's on the way. Heck, you're in Ontario, isn't winter there already?

Where's that smily that's flipping the bird???

The spacing is correct, I lined them up with my stock airbox and they're dead on. I would really need to see what jets/etc are in them and see how close they are to what my Katana would require. I would think that the GSXR1100 would run fatter jets than would my Katana 1100, the Gixxer did pump out a good 40hp more than my bike. I have the spec sheet for the BS34SS carbs as fitted to the Kat handy so it shouldn't be a big deal. Famous last words...

Regardless, for what I paid for them, I'd be happy with them sitting on a shelf in my garage looking cool.

Yes, they are GSXR carbs. Yes, they will work, & quite well, on your 82! I have a nice set of 82 carbs if you are interested. They are from an 82 Katana 1000. They even have the correct choke linkage on them! Ray.
