so I run high beams at all times. Today the high beams died, but the regular lights still works. I have yet to open it and look inside. Is it the same bulbs for low and high, are they different? What should I replace them with, and how much will it run.
Thanks all , I appreciate it. an I upgrade to a bulb that is high beam, olny and superior, nad how much wil that cost?

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
    And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
    RIP Marc

I started to say check the switch (first) but the last 2 times someone posted about lights and I mentioned it, everyone said no... bulb first.

Light switch is a very common failure point.

Did you check the fuse? You said the Hi Beams were out but the low still work. New bulb and the same problem would mostly likely be the Hi Beam fuse. My bike is going through the same problem, if it continues follow CP's recommendation.

Sounds like a similar problem I had. See here:

I don't think there is a separate fuse for the high beam (pre does not) , but then I don't know what year we are talking about..

I have the exact opposite problem, High beams work, but when I flip the switch to low beams, they just turn off. I know for a fact (in my case) that it is something to do with the wiring harness for the headlights, and would be willing to bet yours is the same cause. They are notorious for doing this.

ok, steve suggested that i use a multimeter and check the connections and qwires from bulb to switch to harness. Only problem is that I am mutimeter clueless. Am I checking continuity? where do i place the probes? am i looking for a specific voltage. Please help

*points again to his previous post*

Really all you have to do is pop open the third eye and look at the plug back there. You can visibly see if a connection has burnt out. I would put money on it, too...

I would first look at the post that Fullmetal linked. That plug failure in that thread happens quite often. You wont need any multimeter to visually see if the connector is brown or burnt. Here's a pic of mine.

yep dead on. And the best part is i dont have to figure out how to use the multimeter!
