ok thanks got it to work. I removed the carbs now and went through the carbs and seperated them as well so I could fit them in my ultrasonic cleaner. Noticed several issues when tearing them down, the o rings on the float needles were dried out and fell apart. They were pretty dirty but the jets were good found a few of the hoses were bad. Threw them in my ultrasonic cleaner and couldnt believe how well they turned out cleaned them up so hoping this will fix the issues. I will attach the photo of where it was spraying out earlier. With any luck this wont leak again.

Thats the choke tube like I was saying. I broke my tube in half on my Kat-600, but I JB-Welded and its still holding after 6yrs...lol No kidding
I have a set of float needles with only 15,000 miles on them from my Kat-1100 build. My Kat-600 needles are stock, from 1996 with 50-60k miles. When the mechanic rebuilt my carbs, he just polished them.

Well gentleman after a through cleaning, valve adjustment, sync, balance all that jazz the bike now runs and honestly can't remember it running this well. Amazing what a through cleaning and the above procedures do! Knock on wood the hot restart issue is gone as well. Thank you for the all the input!

Just wondering, you said you used your sonic cleaner on the carbs. What sort of cleaning fluid did you use ? I've been wondering if its safe to use official carb cleaner in them. You know since most of them are flammable.

I ended up spraying them with carb cleaner first. I used just a generic carb spray just to blast through the circuits and outside of carbs. The fluid I used was simple Green and water worked very good. I read not to leave them in the solution for more than 30 mins as it can cause discoloration so I pulled them before that and rinsed them off. I kid you not they looked nearly new afterward and didn't discolor. The fluid was pretty much black afterward because of all the junk on the carbs. Definitely a great way to clean carbs. I did also clean the Jets and bowls etc separately from the bodies. You may be able to use carb cleaner in there but yeah it's pretty harsh and didn't want to risk damaging the unit etc

ok thanks...but yeah, I remember when I bought aluminum heads for my Mustang, someone told me Simple Green was about the best thing for cleaning my engine. Something like, other degreasers will turn aluminum white/oxidize. My sonic cleaner instructions said to use distilled water.
Let me tell you, that didn't do a thing to them ! Glad you got it going

it cleaned them well, I think in the end I had a 50/50 mix of simple green and water. Yeah dont use tap water it will leave spots. Then rinse off with distilled water to get off the simple green etc. I did try just water and it didnt do much, dish soap worked ok but the above combo was best. I will try and post a picture on here of the carb body. I didnt take any pictures but will try and take a snap shot of the carb on the bike.
