  • R1 or R6 rear shock

    I think i read the r6 shock would work, the gixxer 1100 can use the R1 i think i read somewhere. Also im sorry to be asking, the search bar doesnt work on my phone for some reason and its my only interwebs right now otherwise i would just look it up.... thanks for the info

    R6. It will lower the rear end a bit fyi

      Thanks, i was leaning that way. I was just worried about the resiviore being in the way of something. I can always move the upper mount a little to set my ride height if i need to. I appreciate the advice!

        Are you talking about putting the Yamaha shock on the Kat-1100 ?
        From what I remember reading those shocks are barely strong enough for a 600cc Kat, much less a K-11. I would try for a Bandit 1200 shock instead, for both applications as a matter of fact.

          That'll work too, but it'll raise the rear a bit.

            About the only thing left 1100 is the frame and thats not a huge difference in weight. The R6 shock is cheap and available and with the lowered front forks it will ride the bike at a more even level and require less fab work. The bike basically is a 600.....
