Potential 82 GS1000 Purchase?

Looking at picking up an 82 Kat for restoration.
It needs a complete repainted, frame off resto but supposedly runs and rides well.
Missing instrument cluster & windshield brackets and I'm sure misc other bits.
Just how tough is it to find the windshield brackets and an instrument cluster?TIA

It is, but most people have the 88+ 600 or 750. Not very many members have the older ones. ^ is right, GS resources is supposed to be a great resource for that type of ride.

Ok I'm officially confused.
This section was supposed to be for pre-88 Katanas but I'm getting pointed elsewhere.

There is a lot more original katana on the GS resources. No one here as answered your original ? But they will at GS resources, just saying might want to Check them out.

There are a few of us on here that have the '82 Kat.... The GS Resources is a good place to get answers and help. I'd be glad to answer questions that you have.

Instrument cluster is nearly impossible to find. Windshield brackets can be had at Bike Bandit and other online sources.

The windshield brackets are still available new. The cluster is a crap shoot to find a good one that the needles aren't broken off. Good luck. As stated above, the EARLY Kat stuff is more common at the GS Resources. That is because they have GS engines, instead of the GSXR based engines. Does that make sense now?
