  • Track Days

    Hi guys!

I would like to take the Kat to the track for a weekend. I know it's not the best motorcycle for the track, but I don't have resources right now to purchase a bike especially for that purpose.

So my question is, what's the best way to prepare Kat for track days?

    - Tires?
    - Suspension?
    etc.

I'm an amateur and I'm not thinking about racing. I thought it's a good idea to improve my riding skills and get to know the bike a bit better.

    Thanks!

Talk to Tmod about your options to improve your front and rear suspension.

I would just go as it is right now, you'll learn pretty quick what needs to be addressed. At the minimum you'll probably be wanting some fork springs though.

Get yourself safe for track, then get your bike safe for track.

Good helmet, good leathers, good gloves, good boots, and good back protector for yourself.
For the bike, good tires (they don't have to be the stickiest rubber available, but they should have plenty of tread left), good brakes, fresh fluids.

AFTER the track, then figure out what needs help. When I was instructing for car track days, I saw lots of people driving the crap out of bone stock cars having a blast. I also saw lots of people throw crap tons of money at perfectly good rides, while they still couldn't find an apex if they were strapped securely to it.

I'm willing to bet you'll find that after the first couple trackdays that the biggest thing holding you back won't be bolted to the bike, it will be sitting on top of the bike.

          Just because they sound the same doesn't mean they are: there≠their≠they're; to≠too≠two; its≠it's; your≠you're; know≠no; brake≠break
