    so i have been a member for a while but this will be my first post after reading the wealth of knowledge here. I have been slowly modifying my 750 or thats what i thought it was according to the tag but from what i've read, and the info is scarce at best, that this bike should be a six speed i seem to only have 1 down 4 up is this correct, also being somewhat of a computer geek i will be converting this bike to efi so i want to verify the motor first

      but am i right in believing it should be a six speed correct?

        Yes, Unless it has had the GSXR1100 or Bandit1200 swap.

          The Katana 1100 engine is a 5 speed too. It's pretty similar to the 89-92 GSXR 1100.

            that would be a very welcomed surprise haha, regardless i have some big plans for it just found a ducati rear end that was to good to pass up modified the front plastics to curve the windscreen more removed and filled the stock turn signal and mirror spots which will be replaced with slim gsxr mirrors with integrated signal and future plans were megasquirt efi and the gsxr cam swap but if it has the 1100 no need heres hoping

              If you do go want to start EFI, pm me and I can give you some helpful tips. If your good with the MS systems, I may even have questions for you.

                sounds good might be a few weeks out though im trying to finish the looks of it first for bike week, as far as ms i figured it be a good way to go seeing as i have most of the sensors at my shop, im a computer geek haha with a hobbyist background in micro controllers and i do high performance engine work on occasion, im even considering a knock senor for full tuning with spark advance as well as using some of the ms extras to control an oil cooling fan

                  Will definitely need to talk to you about the inition control from the MS. Any idea which MS model you are planning to use?

                    most likely ms2 for increased accuracy in the injector timing, and so i can switch it between my mustang i've yet to finish, as far as ignition it should be pretty stright forward for any of the models, u can add a vr signal conditioner for the ms1 v2.2 boards and the others have it built in and u can add another spark output to run 4 cylinder wasted spark for directly driving the kat coils, figured id start with 5 degree fixed advanced and work the table from there

                        pcb v3 or ms3 all three ms1, ms2 and ms3 have a v3 revision pcb and if so they can all be upgraded to the ms3 daughter card i will most likely be running the ms2 v3 pcb, in any case it will be good to have someone to talk to about what degrees of advance would work was gonna take a guess from 5 degree advance haha

                          5 degree adv would be the same as just purchasing an ign adv rotor.

                            exactly thats why i thought it would be a good starting point then i can tune and adjust it from there using the calc load and all those goodies that are in the megatune software also why i will be adding a cbr knock sensor and this module http://www.viatrack.ca/ or http://www.extraefi.co.uk/Misc_products.htm#knock

                            btw was yours the ms3 v3 or ms2 v3

                              It is a MicroSquirt v3.0. It is closest to the MegaSquirt-II v3.
