'82 Kat....Trigger Plate

Through reading, I noticed a thread where someone mentioned replacing the trigger plate and someone else chimed in saying "or modify the one you have".

I've seen the threads on enlongating the mounting hole to allow more advance which make sense but is there anything that is faulty about the original that needs upgrading besides slotting?

The early Kats have a spring loaded mechanical advancer on them to retard the timing for starting. Your stock ignition plate HAS slotted screw holes already so you can adjust the timing to advance or retard it. Don't listen to the guys that own NEW Kats that don't have experience with the VINTAGE Kats. Ray.
