  • runs rough then dies

Did a valve adjust, and re-installed carbs (after a bench synch ) and I have the same problem. It runs rough and dies, even after running on choke for a while. interesting sidebar, the idle adjster screw only had a 1/2 turn left after the bench synch, can that be adjusted some how? I will post a vid tomorrow of it so maybe that will help

    thanx,
    erik

If you have the idle adjust screw that far in, you did something wrong when you did the bench sync.

is there a way to re-set the poition of the idle screw? It just seems like it doesnt go in far enough. I bench synched it to half cover the half of the 1st little hole on the bottom. It just seems like the idle isnt high enough. also, at a steady choke the rpms bounce all over the place.

i put my idle screw in just enough to touch the butterfly lever, then synced all the butterflys to the same position, then mounted and synced with a manometer... was difficult because it kept dying on me til i got them all synced together... had to keep adjusting idle screw until i got it working right

F me, I never put the vac caps back on after my 1st attempted synch. could that be why its doing this?

yep, i'm a dope. ok, it is running now that i replaced the vac caps, but even with the idle adjust all the way up it sits at 1500, not 1750 where it should be to synch. Can I synch it at 1500? Also throttle hangs a bit, is that because the idle screw is all the way up?

more then likely, you could try doing a sync and you might find that after you sync one or two your throttle might be up a whole lot higher and you have to turn out the idle screw, your sync may be so off it's causing it to die... or you could have other problems
