I hate asking this question but what are the 2 switches for on the left side panel under the choke knob?

Those are auxillary switches. You can wire 12 volt devices to the back of those and use them to turn the device on/off. I've never figured out what you would have used those for, back in 1982.... today, a power outlet can be wired there and turned on and off.GS1000SZ, GS1100EZ, GS1000ST (Wes Cooley)
