Lights ??

first of all I have searched for this and cant find an answer. On my kat (98 600) I have that
little light in the front and the hi beams. If I turn off my brights at night I have no lights except for that useless little bar light. Is that normal?? thanks

ohh no....you should have low beams....

On a 98 Kat, there should be dual low-beams, and since both aren't working, my immediate suspicion is the low-beam fuse (under the seat, in the fuse-box) and the high-/low-beam switch.

Note that if you just got the bike, a lot of idiots put significantly higher than stock draw bulbs in the sockets, and those tend to cause all sorts of secondary damages (mostly melted wiring, the occasional bike fire, and melted bulb plugs). Yank your bulbs and check the metal ring on them -- if they are rated correctly, they will have the numbers 55/60 stamped into the ring (or 50/55), not something like 80/110.
