  • Clear Coat.

    Look I am painting my buddies bike and he wants a cheesy ass paint job, just wondering if home depot or Lowes sells anything in a clear coat that is gas resistant???? Any help is appreciated

      Check the ColorRite website you may be able to find someone locally that carries it..

        (A) You're not going to find automotive-grade paints at Home Depot or Lowes.

        (B) The cheapest route if you don't have spray equipment is probably rattle-cans from the local auto parts store. They'll sell matching clear-coat. For a durable, easily-renewable finish, some have used bedliner spray with good results. Krylon Fusion (available at Walmart among other places) works well on plastics and is hard to screw up, but it's not suitable for metal gas tanks.

        (C) The cheapest route if you do have spray equipment is to visit your local automotive paint supplier. There should be at least one in any major metropolitan area. You can even go with an air-brush set-up to paint with (cheaper on the compressor, equipment) and get excellent results, as long as your prep-work is done well.
