Engine code number meaning?

I was wondering if there is any way to tell what year a engine is from just from the engine number? My engine number is R712-130147

I know it is 750 cc... Is there any other information in this engine number?

someone here may be able to help. I took the number to a dealership and they were able to tell me when it was from.

I read that site before, but I didnt learn much from it.

It basically says that R means that I have 750 cc
7 means 4 stroke, 4 cylinder
12 means revision 12.

I do not know any information from revision 12.
So far I am just assuming all years 1989-2006

Anyone has any updated knowledge of this or additional information which might help me identify my engine? Any information about what Revision 12 tells me about my engine?
