        Yep - carbon fiber insulator . Supposedly keeps the stacks filled with nice cool air, but I'm not sure how effective they are ( or how much they effect cooling on the engine itself ). But it's kind of trick, so for now it's staying on. I'm not usually a fan of carbon fiber, especially the fake stuff - but I don't think a few CF items look out of place on the Kat. My fork brace, carb insulator and mini-stalks are all CF (or fake CF).

        Those are a set of CR33's - one of these days I'd like to swap them out for a set FCR's.

          true that with the FCR!
          I want that carb plate for my GS1100E 1981!
          it does work, many have done that to their GS's. On a air cooled bike, helps alot and keeps from having vapor lock due to heat.

                    Haven't updated this thread in a while, so I thought I'd finish it off. Bikes are never 'completely' finished, but for now this one is. The finishing item I've been waiting months for finally arrived today - a set of Ohlins;
