  • Need opinions on 1994 Kat 600 Value condition

I have a chance to pickup a 1994 Kat 600 that's been crashed. The description over the phone is minor accident BUT it need a rear rim, swingarm, rotor and sprocket.

The kid ran a red and got clipped.

I have the parts to fix this and may make it in to a project for profit. Otherwise it's a downer bike. Low K's and a straight front end.

What is a realistic value for a fair condition cert 600 ??

Research new and used car book values, trade-in values, ratings, specs and photos.

Then subtract the cost of the required parts new as listed in the RonAyers.com fiche files.

    There's your final answer.

My guess is if it got swacked hard enough to need a new swing arm, it's toasted anyway -- stress transfering into the frame would make the main frame iffy in my mind (I wouldn't ride it without taking magnaflux to the frame to check it for stress fractures and other damages).
Thus donor parts bike or walk away would be my advice...

a fair condition would go for $1700-2500
wrecked maybe $1200, wrecked and needs that many parts $500 if the rest was beautiful

If you can swing $2,000 - $3,000, you could pick up something that's straight and won't have to worry...
