  • Rear brake - brake light sensor

Hey guys I have a quick question.

On my bike the rear brake doesnt light up the brake light. The guy I bought it from said he had tipped it over and i saw that the peg took most of the damage. could it be that the sensor was just knocked loose?

Im hoping thats what happened because i'm not an electrician and am doing my own work on the bike. I dont want to mess with it and end up having the brake light always on.

edit: i figured i didnt need to list it but its a 96 kat 600

There's a spring on my wife 89 Katana that connects the peddle to the switch. It may have been knock loose or out of adjustment.

Same thing with the 1998+ models.

Check the spring, connector plug and then the switch with a multimeter.

Did you already check the bulb? It is a dual filament bulb and possible the brake filament is burnt or broken.

when it comes to wiring i have no idea so im going to make my father give me a hand with that as he has electrician experience.
but when i got the fairings off i noticed the left rear turn signal bulb wasnt even inserted into the slot it has in the fairing(aftermarket)
