Helmet hanger mod

Not sure where this belongs....

I often ride with a spare helmet.
Yet I also often have some luggage,
so I often use the helmet hanger to hold the spare lid.
This is less than ideal as it bumps my leg.

So after a little looking I came up with this mod..

I removed the right hand helmet hook.
Trimmed the flange about 3/8"
(this flange is to prevent the hook from turning)
Then reattached it to the "mystery" lug in the
rear subframe. I used a long 1/4-20 screw and
Nyloc nut. The lug is not threaded
I then trimmed the side cover a bit.

It is no more noticable than the old location.
But now the helmet hangs out of the way.
FYI I used the right side so it wouldn't block the seat lock.





NOTE:
It is not as close to the pipe as it appears..

I strap mine to the luggage rack . But I got bags to carry my extra luggage .

i always see bikes with the helmet hanging on the side of sport bikes near the pass seat.how do they do that?is there a hook there?i somtimes hang mine on the mirror.

Looks like it works well. I am able to put the spare on my hook, and it doesn't bother my leg at all, but it may be a diffrence in placement between our models.

I don't always. But after dropping my son off I have his helmet
and gear to carry.

Nope.. That is my son..
He is very "hetero" even for 9 years old
He was wanting me to check out some "hot girls"
at the pool the other day.. I said
"I can't.. If they are young enough to be my daughters,
I can't "check them out".."
