  • kickstand safety switch problem

My neutral light won't come on when bike is in neutral, therefore when the kick stand is down the safety switch cuts out the engine. Anyone know how to fix?? thanks

The side stand switch is working fine. Your problem is with the neutral switch.

It's on the left side of the motor near the front sprocket. It is a round plastic housing with a screw tab on each end. Be careful when you take it off. There is a metal plug and spring behind it that make the switch work. If the spring is weak or gummed up there won't be enough force to push the plug against the switch and make the light go on.

But before you pull it apart follow the wire from the neutral switch and look for damage and make sure it's connected.

Check to see if the neutral wire is cut. The neutral wire should ground out when on.
You can test the circuit by finding the connector for the neutral switch and grounding it. If this doesn't turn on the light then you have an issue with the diode logic do-hicky..

A faulty sidestand diode can also cause that problem.

Thanks for the input . Yes the bike is in neutral (made sure of that right away)
Checked the neutral switch, followed the wire and found the connector wasnt properly pushed together. Very easy fix Thanks again
