fixing a scratch

i have a scratch about 1/2" on my tank
i don't want to just paint over it because there's a touch of rust .. the scratch is through the clear coat and paint
a short term, cheap solution is what i'm looking for

i'm hoping to have the bike PC'd and painted by a body mech friend of mine mid-year

If you want a temp fix and want the rust gone first, they make a sanding pen. They have a pointed tip. You would just need to carefully sand the surface rust off, then use some black touch up.
Your lucky, I have a nick in my Candy Sonoma Red. I'm going to have to find some auto touch up that is close.
