  • Oil in Air Filter

I just bought a 00 750 Kat a few weeks ago and I've been trying to do some routine maintenance. The Kat got super hot in a traffic jam and came close to overheating shutdown, so I had to do an oil change with some mobil 1. One thing I did do though is fill the oil up to the F line so I'm sure I overfilled. Anyways I went to check the air filter and it had oil on it, I'm sure because I overfilled the oil. I'm wondering if I ride on the filter like this, can it damage my engine or valves, etc.? There was a Uni air filter on there so I couldn't tell how much oil got in there since it's dark gray foam but it smelled like it had some oil on it and there was some oil in the plastic air box but not much. Also, should I stick with this one and clean it or should I go with K&N. Thanks for the advice.

Both Uni & K&N are oiled filters, that is how they trap the dirt.

So if motorcycle oil got in there it wouldn't do any damage then?
