  • Oil Drain Plug.

I set my torque wrench incorrectly and I torqued it to 18 ft pounds instead of 16.5. I didnt realise it until I had allready put oil back in. Will that extra 1.5 ft pounds cause big problems?

If it didn't strip out puting it in and oil isn't leaking it should be ok.

it wouldn't hurt to back it off a few turns and then retighten it. It may make it easier for you for your next oil change.

That can cause a leak. The oil plug washer is a a crushable washer. If you back off the torque you may not be compressing it enough to seal. I would leave it like Fred said if it didn't strip and it is not leaking it should be fine.

Always make sure to use a new crush washer every time.
