  • Signal Generator cover

    Well,
I took the top of my 97 Kat apart to make my first attempt at adjusting the valves.
I finally took off the signal generator cover to find a small amount of oil in there. I am hoping this is not a really bad sign. There was a light coat of oil on the inside of the cover itself and small amount dripped onto the floor. It was coating the wires in there too. The gasket around the cover is very worn and dry, but should there be oil in that part of the bike at all?
There was a small amount of dirt and gravel in the top left part of the generator as well.
    Is this a normal thing?
    Thanks,
    Newride

yeah, totally normal, there is oil everywhere in your crankcase. Just clean it up and put it back on, if there wasn't oil in there, it wouldn't have a gasket.
