Would this be an issue for track days? I know they usually like you to wire your standard drain plug up as it is.

Also, has anybody using these run into ground clearance issues?

No need to safety wire, you have to make two distinct movements to open the valve.

It's a 10 min job with a dremel or grinder, just have to grind down the oil pan fin near the drain plug.

I might be interested in one of these guys.

Which model are you buying? With or without the nipple?

What is the model number for the 98+ Kat?

Is it these?...
http://www.quickoildrainvalve.com/Se...lts.asp?Cat=41

If so the site sells them for $23-$26 and coupon code "YM4" will get you 10% off... Is the group buy still a better deal?

You want F-111, without the nipple (so NOT F-111N!). I have one on mine and am very happy with it. Got it from lubrication specialists, but that was before Jimmy was selling them.

BTW, here's a pic CP had posted a while back showing the drain plug installed and the lip that was ground down. As you can see you have to grind it down in order for the valve to thread in, as the nozzle part has to turn right where the lip is. Not a problem to do:

do you have to take off the oil pan to take off the ridge? Can I do with the pan still intact.

That's the easiest way to do it... but yes you can do it with the pan on.
