Default From Pueblo, CO to Spokane, WA

I am planning a road trip from Pueblo, CO to Spokane, WA and back. It'll happen in Aug/Sept time period. It's a quite bit way off but I am excited already LOL. So I figure that I should use the time to prepare for this trip and so on. I've read the sticky and it's filled with great ideas - I plan on prepping my bike with all necessity as well.
The whole reason for this trip is to visit a couple friends of mine who lives in Spokane and Seattle. I probably will be staying mainly in Spokane. I was supposed to go this spring but that didn't pan out so I'm super determined to go in Aug/Sept this time!!

I'd like to find out if there is anyone who lives in any of these towns/cities along the route(s) I'm going to take. Just for in case of emergency that I need help with the bike or who knows what else would happen. And perhaps meet some of fellow KR members when I stop in one of town/city for the night?? That'll be just nifty to meet new people along the way!!

So, on my way up to WA - I want to take longer route which is this...

And then on my way back, I'll be taking the fastest way home... I have someone in Casper, WY if I need to crash or so on. I plan on taking my 1-2 person tent so I can camp along the way as needed I am not going to set a timeline for this trip but hopefully I can do this trip no more than 2 weeks. I do not want to be rushed at all

Sounds like a great time. I cant wait til I have the chance to do something like that. Your trip seems like just the right distance and length of time.

I would guess riding time will be 3 days up, and 2 days on your shorter route back, unless you decide to Ironbutt one day on your way there which would cut it down to 2 days each way.

These 2 routes differ by only approximately 90 miles but the first route which is longer will go through mountains so that will take a good chunk of my time traveling through it

Steve I've rode 500+ miles in 1 day before and my azz didn't hurt. My right wrist/hand was what hurts the most. I had crampbuster as well... it helps to a degree. What I need is new grips on the bike. Seat.... I will can live with what I've got - its comfy enough for me.

The longer route is 1,292 miles vs. faster route which is 1,209 miles. I'm thinking of bring along my 1-2 person tent with me. The question is... do I really want to rough it or do I want to stay at hotels... I dunno yet.

If you've done 500 miles you'll be good.

Some of the long haul tips are to get a pair of the bicycling shorts with the gel pads in them.

As for the throttlemeister... they are good for the highway... but if you are trying to vary your ride you might not use it that much.

Mm, let me make sure if I understood this... I searched for cruise control o-ring post... so basically you would have to have any type of bar end in order for it to work?

Highway riding is what kills my hand This is nifty idea as well... I'm unsure about something - kinda related to bar end I suppose... How do I know if this item will fit on the bike with a certain type of grip that is on it??
