What kind of upgrade would i do to increase the handling of my bike? Like what parts would i upgrade?

  • #2
The fork internals, rear shock, tires, track day training.
Gonna need more info if you are wanting specifics.

well for example...I noticed that if I coast in neutral and let go of my handlebars...depending on speed, but usually the case is that i start to shake and it would go into tank slapper. so I was curious as to what would be the best solution for this...I assume its the front suspension weaksauceness

edit * sry to jack the thread, but it's relevant

That is not really relevant... You either have a cupped tire, a bad stem bearing, or something is jacked up with your forks.

ah I see..thanks for that! I'll have to figure that out. My first thoughts are with the cupped tire, as I definitely will be needing a new front very soon, but will investigate.

Holding on to the handle bars helps too.

Could also just be loose/undertightened steer neck bearings...

A lot of thing can have an effect on how your suspension behaves, like the existing condition of the tires, the forks, shock, stem bearings, swing arm bushings, wheel bearings, your weight etc.

However the most common issues are with the forks and shock. The resident suspension guru Tmod can help you out.

There's not anything necessarily wrong with my suspension, I was just curious as to how I could make it better. But thank you for the tips!

If your suspension is stock, then there is alot wrong with your suspension

What is wrong with stock suspension? How would better suspension change my ride?

I don't understand your statement... I'm sure there is lots of room for improvement over the stock suspension but what's wrong with it for the everyday rider?

The katana stock suspension is set up for about a 150lb neutral position rider.

Very few people will fit that exact category with gear on, and there's not enough adjustment in the stock suspension to adjust it.
