  • Seat Recovered..Changing color for paint job

The seat on my Kat was recovered not too long ago (Got the $250 receipt to prove it) and done very nicely...but it's red (the bike is red but I'm painting it shortly)...

Now I picked another seat up (in black) in decent shape...but I really like the feel of my red seat.

Is spray vinyl dye good enough to change color (and not wear it) or can an interior shop "correctly" dye the cover?

Sorry, I don't really have an answer for you, but I can't believe you paid 250.00 to have your seat covered.

Wow 250 is a bit steep...did they do it in leather? I would normally say buy the vinyl and have someone do the work. I've had 2 seats recovered..one in diamond plate the other in a mix of carbon fiber and diamond plate...check to see what they would charge you for doing the work if you provide the material..I find that the maring vinyl is very durable..Here is the site:

I didn't pay that much...the previous owner did. And from the feel of it, looks like the added or replaced padding as well.

I'll call around and see what they can do.

          thanks

Honestly, if you buy the vinyl yourself, have a heat gun of some kind and a staple gun you can do it yourself. I recovered mine for about $10

Where did you get the diamond plate vinyl?

250 Ouch i mean you can do it your self for 5-15 bucks if you want leather it can get higher. All it takes is a good staple gun and your using synthetic a heat gun

did you do the stitching or get your mom to do it?

Not trying to be insulting but thats a good stitching job
