The epoxy would be better. The cement tends to dry brittle from what I've read.

From my research, I understand that the ABS cement is made from ABS and acetone. Not sure, haven't read the label. Nice thing about make your own is that you can make it as thin or think as you want. Looks like I'll be trying this in the next month or two. Will keep you posted.

I found on my 90 CBR600 that super glue and baking soda worked well for fixing cracks or breaks.

How does this set up? Hard and brittle or some flexibility? Paintable?

Over the years this is what I've learned to like. Favorite thing here is the Plastex up front, just ordered some more. Black Plastex = carbon fiber and graphite shavings mixed in with plastex. Just had a drunk driver slam into my bike in the parking lot and the plastex faired really well. Cracks sometimes went around my plastex repairs, showing that it is as strong if not stronger than the ABS.

I completely drill out the crack and use a stitch pattern on the back to strengthen.

Notice the hole at the bottom, now filled w/ plastex.

I would be leery of the products that are "plastic" repair without details the specific types. ABS is what the fairing are made of.

I always used Fusor. I love how well it works and can be sanded very easily. If I really take my time I can sometimes sand the Fusor down and not even need to use a drop of putty just primer it and paint. I have reatached broke off ferring pieces before with it and you never can notice, and it works great to fill in cracks and rash with. It is a bit pricey though and you need a gun to shoot it, or you could rig something up so that both sides of the tubes come out at the same time.

Gun (which you can usually rent with a deposit at a auto paint store like API): http://autobodystore.net/Merchant2/m...gory_Code=JASS

bike looks good it appears I'm gonna be doing this work shortly with mine because I was at a party for my club and had to escort ppl back to the main drag so they could find there way out they waived me around them on my bike and I caught the edge of a rock and it flipped it up into the lower fairing piece and put 2 cracks in it.
