I believe on the post ignition, all is good to swap the assembly. On a pre tho there are some modifications that have to be made in hole size.

So does the steering stem need to be swap? Press out the Busa stem of the Busa triple tree and then press in the Kat's stem into the Busa triple?

here is the difference between a pre 750 stem and a busa stem. Notice the threads stop at same spot?

This is the stem in a katana neck

I did not have the bearing cover in at that time, this was mockup stage
Another look at the Busa front

This was before doing the gauge change but it gives you a good look at the master cylinder and how the handlebar mount looks

For those with a pre, here is the wiring diag. I made up

The Chrome project post 98 gauge back plate being mocked up to fit the pre

What the gauge cluster looks like completed!

I have to say I really enjoyed this part of the project, seeing it finished and ready to ride!

Now, you asked about spring rates
Hayabusa spring rate is .850 kg/mm (stock)
pre and post 750 is .629 kg/mm (stock)

Let me say at this time that if you don't feel your skill level is where you would like it to be to tackle this mod, just let me know. I will build it, put a kit together with instructions etc.

link will only last for 2 days and this is a good deal! you get everything except the front wheel

I used a Hayabusa rear shock on mine and mreedohio's bikes. If you go that route, you will have to either make or buy lowering links, the busa shock is longer than the katana. I have seen the R1 shock, GSXR shock and I believe a kawi shock used on them.

Yes you can use the katana bars but they have to be knotched for the busa handlebar mount. I believe there is a difference of a 1/2 inch. This will not mess with the integrity of the bar if you do it properly.

You will also need a speedhealer for the pre to be sure to get the speedo dialed in.
wow 400 not bad ! I thought I did pretty good on ebay got the forks for under 100 off an 05 with 27000 miles. the only thing that killed me was the fancy rotors i bought 165$. overall i spent 460 not including break lines.
