  • Picked up a newer bike.

Picked me up an 05 Gsxr 600 w/an 04 750 engine in it. Clean and clear title, but had hit a deer. After my inspection of the front end and the frame impact points turned up ok, I talked the guy down to 2200 from 2500.
The obviously non existant plastics will be replaced sometime after the rally most likely. Thinking of going with white fairings.
After a very close inspection today, it seems I found the reason why I was able to get her so cheap. It appears the accident also damaged the lower engine case. It was 'sealed' and from my research that section has almost no internal pressure, but when I have some money saved back up I will either get the case welded or replaced.

I can't say I would have been motivated to pay 22 for that. Good luck.

Sure looks like a good score from here. After all the "offs" I've had I'm starting to consider a bike with minimal fairings.

This may upset people, but I insured it today... 6 dollars more than my kat. so thats under 90$ a year for insurance.

There are same year 600's in worse shape selling for 3500 here so I dont see 2200 as a horrible deal.

I'm looking at all the scuffs. 'Course the lack of all those expensive fairings probably colors my opinion some. Most of my offs have been pretty mild. I think the fastest I've been going when I dropped it was about 15 mph. One of my offs ended with me straddling the bike. (wet sand, switchback, guardrail, sheer drop past guardrail, foot on guardrail....

If your referring to the scuffs on the frame. Thats from the fairing scratching off the finish in the crash. Already inspected the frame for cracking in all stress areas an it has come up clean. Fairing arent that expensive, >400 for a full set (it aint as old of a bike as the kat is), an the HK plastics fit these machines much better than the kats from what Ive seen.

Nice find. Curious as to how it ended up with a 750 engine?

From what I've read it is a common upgrade, similar to throwing a larger engine in a kat. The 1000 engines have also been known to be swapped in, but due to custom front mounts needing to be fabricated it isn't as common.

                    Thanks Taylor
