  • Anyone running an Avon 170/60 rear

I read from the Cyber Poet that the Avon 170/60 will fit on the the 4 1/5 inch rim. The Avon Storm is the model that would fit(verified on the Avon site). Does anyone run on these? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have storm's on my bike. Love them. I like the look of them and the performance is awesome. A real upgrade from stock.

I ran the Storms, albeit in a 150/70. I liked them, although the front tire wore very strangely and quickly (A problem I have not had before or since.) My only complaint on them is their profile is a little on the flat side. I was past the side of the tread much more often than I would have liked in comparison to the Z6, Strada, and Force's.

      Just because they sound the same doesn't mean they are: there≠their≠they're; to≠too≠two; its≠it's; your≠you're; know≠no; brake≠break

I've had a good run with my Storms, stock 150 size. Now I have the Azzaro's, 160/70 rear.
As noted the rear tire has a "flatter" profile than some, it is a "Sport Touring" tire. As long as you can deal with the lesser lean angles they are great tires. The lean angle thing isn't that bad anyway since I can still drag my pegs before running out of tire.
What did you want to know specifically about the 170 size?

i have a 160/60 storm on the rear and a 120/70 storm up front and they're decent tires. i'm an avon fan, they fall into corners easy and hold well, although i wouldn't do the 170 on the rear. i've also ran avon viper sports on my bike, and i'll be back with them after the storms run out. the reason being because i'm probably gonna get the same mileage out of both, so why not get a stickier tire. my brother runs the storm on his 1700 warrior and he likes them alot, my dad also runs them on his st1300, so, hope this helps.

The Maxxis Supermaxx in 170/60 is made for a 4 1/2" rim also. I have one mounted on mine, but haven't ridden on it. There are a couple of other tires that fit as well, but the exact ones escape me at the moment.

That rim looks to be about 5 to 5.5 wide. Definitely not a stock pre size rear rim.
