  • 04 CBR600F4i and 05 Katana 750

Help please. I'm trying to decide between these two bikes as my next. Currently on a 88 Kat 600. Could anyone with experience give me a review of the F4 or just voice your opinions on the difference between the two.

I haven't ridden one but know people that own them. They all seem to be very happy with theirs.

Is the CBR not so comfy? And would the Interceptor be more comparable to a Kat then a CBR is?

I keep leaning towards getting another Kat. I just like the sharp lines of the CBRs. I know I don't want any of the RR bikes out there.

The Interceptor would be comparable to the Kat as far as comfort goes as it's a sport tourer. I have a few friends with the F4i and they love them have rarly have any problems with them....But they all say they never want to take a long trip on them they would have to visit the chiropractor to get back inline when it was over. lol

my bro has an f3 I know the are a lil different but I dont like the ride of it. It just doesn't have the stability or comfort of the kat. On the other hand its fast as hell. So I would say what are you looking for. A faster bike or a newer bike. Cause in my experience the pre kats are faster than the 98+. Just my opinion someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks guys. I don't know which is faster the pres or the newer ones. Either way I think I'm getting another Kat. I still have months to think about it. I just keep looking at my options and then coming back to the Kat.

I like the ergonomics, the aftermarket support, the fact that the bike isn't overpowering, and the wonderful community here at katriders. The CBR forums just can't compare to this place!

Anyways, what would you all do? If you were thinking of another bike other than Kat but it has to be similar to a sport-touring bike. No 'R' bikes. No cruisers.

I dunno. Don't have much experience. I've seen the FJR's and I was assuming the CBRf was a ST bike.

Depends on what you are looking to do with the bike.
The F4i's are quick and fun, but do not really seem suited to long (4hr+) days. The Kat is heavier and not as quick, but really nice for long days compared to the F4i.

I can tell you from my experience that the F4i is quick and agile, but the comfort of the Kat makes up for the quickness, and agility real quick on a long ride.

Myself, and a buddy went for a ride last fall. He was on his 03 F4i, myself on my 01 Kat 750. We decided to change bikes about an hour into the ride. After about 45 minutes on his F4i I wanted my Kat back real bad. The only problem was he didn't want to swap back. He said he could not believe how comfortable the Kat was compared to his bike. Unfortunately for him, he had to ride his F4i back on the ride home (3+ Hours). We haven't been on a long ride since.

My personal preference would be the Kat all day over the F4i ,but my opinion may be a bit bias due to the fact that at 6'4" 250 lbs. I was a little tight on space on the F4i.
I would rather be judged by 12, than carried by 6.

It doesn't matter what they say about you as long as they spell your name right.

Instead of getting rid of one Kat to buy another one, why not just upgrade the engine in the current ride (unless you just want the newer body style)?
