  • Foam intake filter?

I was just curious (as i have very little bike experience) if anyone has run an open foam filter on the ITB's, much like alot of the seriously tuned hondas?

    much like this:

Obviously, it would need a proper tune and carb tuning...would it be possible? And if so, worth it?

Not for the long run...poor filtering. Keeps out the big chunks, sure...but the small abrasive bits get through.

Check out the hook while my DJ revolves it...

You might as well throw sand in the carbs.

Thanks guys, I have a feeling im not going to be doing this unless I run to the track, and even then I will probably just take out the intake box AT the track.

(no I wont be running the kat for anything serious, just for fun)

The stock Katana cam lobe lift duration work THE BEST with the stock air box and the stock air filter. If you take off the air box, fueling problems will arise. Unless you switch to GSXR 1100 cams, which I have never looked into doing. Only bad things will happen if you take the stock air box off. Save yourself the headaches and leave in intake as it is supposed to be.

Im going to look around for cam lobe specs for the 600's and 1100's,
and then see if they will even fit.

Anyway, apologies if this question has come up 2098453 times.
                Thanks for the help guys!

Actually a well oiled/properly oiled foam filter will filter out more and finer dust then paper filters can.

Ever wonder why they only put foam air filters on off road machines and paper filters on street machines? You would think if paper filters better they would use them for offroad in extreme dusty conditions....

                    Because the paper filters clogs.

Think about that for a second or two.
