  • Aftermarket Headers?

Does anyone know if there are aftermarket header pipes made for a katana, i've looked and couldn't really find anything.... If so where can I find them?

well, considering your garage profile isn't filled out, i have no clue what year katana you are looking for. If it for a pre 98 kat, then yes, there are some full length exhausts available from Vance and Hines. Another option for pre's is swapping out to the post 98 exhausts, which requires either denting the collector of the header, or swapping oil pans. If it is for a post 98 kat, all you really need is the stock header, but if it is a 600, you could 'upgrade' to a 750 header and grind out the welds on it for a bit better flow, then add the slip-on of your choice. If it is for an 1100, or vintage early 80's kat, I honestly have no clue....

Yea sorry about that I was going to wait until I got my pictures up. I just ordered my new roadtecs. But i have a 2002 600, I just didn't know if I could get a hp gain from adding aftermarket headers to my yoshi slip on.

honestly, not really, i would just try to score a 750 header off ebay and grind it out, and add either a factory pro or ivans jet kit and be done with it...well, an ignition advancer as well..

I was looking into either a factory pro or ivans kit, but the factory pro was the only one that could accept a slip on pipe AND an aftermarket air filter. I was told the ivans was better so im kind of in a bind haha

get the ivans and use your stock filter, it's the way most here would recommend for the sake of tuning simplicity...

Teddy is awesome, I would have said the same thing. BTW, Ivan's kit accepts ANY slip on. Slip on's effect nothing, they are just for sound. Also, after market air filters suck large farm animals.

Yeah, what Teddy and Arsenic said.....

BTW, I think they may have been correct. It does appear that BLACK is indeed the FASTEST color. R.O.R...R.I.P.M

slip ons do add hp. I have an indicated 20mph difference at the end of the Hockenheimring back straight between stock and V&H SS2R slip on. So I'm no mechanic expert, but I think I got a horsepower gain.

ok dude, first of all. a SS2R is NOT a slip on. Thats a full system. Well, if you bother to fill out your garage, I could tell if your bike is pre or post. If it's pre thats NOT a slip on. I doubt it's a slip for a post either, but I'd have to check on that. If you're bike is a pre, thats a V&H 4 into 1 system. That's not a slip on. Now just think about that for a second, now explain to me how the hell a slip on is going to add HP
