  • Please review my KAT shopping list...

I don't post much on here, but I do try to soak up as much knowledge as possible by reading what you all have to say. To that end, I've made a list of things I want for the KAT below. Please let me know if you guys have any thoughts... I realize that I am going -1/+1 on the sprockets, I am assuming this will work well with the stock chain... I want some more low end power to try to keep up with my buddy's R6 a little better, and I rarely go over 100 anyways.

However, I'm not sure if the chain below is what I need, and I'm not sure if this is a rivet style chain or a master clip. I also don't know a thing about quality of brands with sprockets and chains, so let me know if there is a better way to go.

From the way Cyber talks about them, I feel pretty good about the Z6's, but I'm not sure if I should go 150 or 160 in the rear.

Any comments on my choices, brands, prices, etc are greatly appreciated, I want to make sure that I'm buying quality parts. I don't want to spend a fortune, but if someone has a better idea and a reason to justify the additional cost, I'm all ears. Thanks to everyone for all of thier previous posts to get me this far, and for any feedback!

I'd agree with CP....stick with the stock tire size when you can.

      Everything else looks fine.

Actually, double checking the specs yielded this:
RK 530H series chain: Suitable for 400cc max street use

Recommend you seek an RK 530XO, 530XSO, or 530GXW chain... or move to a different manufacturer's line (where the names will be different).

Thanks for the catch, somehow I missed that.

I though that price was way too low, but couldn't seem to find a reason why.

I talked to a friend at a local shop today, he is seriously pushing me away from a smaller front sprocket and saying to just go up three in the rear.

If I do this, I will need to find a 50 tooth sprocket, which I haven't seen much of, and how many links will I need? Will a 120 fit OK with with a 15-50 set up?

Any thoughts on where to find the best price on a good 120 link X-ring chain or the sprocket? Thanks for the help!

I too would recommend the larger rear instead of smaller front -- you'll get the same benefit, but much longer chain life.

You can get 120 link (and 122 link) just about anywhere; every bike shop, dealer, mail-order outfit all carry standard 530 chains in 120 link and longer sizes.

50 tooth sprocket is a bit more difficult, and you'll need to search. JT Sprockets (the same people who manufacturered what you were going to get from BikeBandit) and SidewinderSprockets both offer them.

            Cheers,
