  • Me and the Kat are going on vacation.

After the most hectic couple of months I can remember, I've managed to weasel 10 days off work for some much needed R&R and I'm off to tackle Southeastern ohio, west NC and central NC on the kat.

Since I only have 3 priorities, spending as little money as possible, staying safe, and visiting family in highpoint, my itinerary is laughably empty. I thought you guys (and gals) with some experience of the roads to ride down there might throw out some routes I should scrape a knee on while i'm down there.

I know i'll be in marietta, OH from this friday-sunday, and am going to hit route 26.
Then it's down to Asheville, NC for a couple of days, and I'm planning on going to the gap and the skyway sometime during that time.
Then to Highpoint to see family (any suggestions for roads to hit down there?), then back up to marietta at some point for a couple more days, then back up to michigan.

I'm totally psyched to get out on the road for a nice long tour, i've done michigan-marietta a couple of times this year, but this is the first time i'm not going to be racing against the clock to get somewhere.

I am a bit worried though, i've been out of the loop the past month or two, and I come back to find a few of ya became victims of the dragon and surrounding roads. Hopefully it's not a katriders curse!

Cool..... vacation and the Kat. I would make one recommendation though, check out the "ICON" visability vest. I have one, they look as cool as you can make it look cool and will be an added comfort should the weather turn foul and your on the road. Im glad I had mine when I got caught in the middle of 7 hours of downpour on the highway going across the east coast. Cheers.......

I actually had my jacket and helmet stolen last week from outside a restaurant last week so i'm looking for something new. I'll have to look into the icon stuff. Hopefully my paycheck will cover my bills and still give me enough loot for a new jacket before I go down, or i'll just have to wrap up in layers for the ride down.

motorcycleroads.us is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, motorcycleroads.us has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

I've heard good things sbout 555 from some of the Ohio guys , and the area around Hocking(sp?) Hills .... But you'll probably be bored as hell running through central Ohio . I THINK there's a hill near a corner in Columbus , but damned if I could find it again ....

After 20+ years of riding I can still say North Carolina and the Blue Ridge Parkway are the best riding areas I have ever been to. ood luck and enjoy it!!

That's what I've heard! i'm down in Marietta right now, about to to out and tackle Rt 26 (if the weather cooperates). It's looking dry right now. The whole ride down here was on and off rain though. Thankfully the bike ran like a top, did 440 miles in 7 hours.
