  • Lou's Bike Blew Up Today

Yes, I was crusing Cherahola Skyway, about 15 miles in, and I notice a huge cloud of smoke behind me. I figured I blew a piston ring or something. Lucky there was a pull off not to far away. Stopped, and noticed that the bike is bleeding oil all over, and that I have left a oil trail all over the road, and all over my boot and back tire. Also, a ton of smoke is coming up from the front.

We just got it back to the Tree Tops here, and may start digging into it here soon. Looks like the leak may be coming from the top end somewhere, like the valve cover or oil cooler maybe.

I was lucky I didn't crash with as much oil was on my back tire!!! And yes, there are pictures, but will have to wait till I get home to upload them unless Z has a card reader for my memory stick. Jimmah was a ways behind me when it happened, and he was running video, and you can see the oil trail start, and then a huge cloud of smoke and my oil trail leading to the pull off area.

Guess I will have to steal someone elses bike to ride

                Less time riding....more time drinking.

                What's wrong with that?

Man that sucks a$$!! Get to the Gap just to have something break.

However, I can't think of a better place to break though. You have almost ALL the Katana experts right there with you. All the knowledge of this site gathered in one place. And some of them brought TOOLS!!

Good luck and get it back together quickly.

With all those kat guys over there, you should have it back up and running by now.

And by tomorrow you should be sober enough to ride!

I would bet Md has a spare engine to do an engine swap in one of his bags.

That really sucks it happening on a vacation for riding at the Gap. I hope they got the road cleaned up to keep it safe for everyone.
